In February of 2008 I heard about an emerging field of work called EFT. I haven't been the same since! EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques. It is similar to Acupuncture except there are no needles used & it is self administered. Some call it simply 'tapping'. I was lucky enough to go out to California as a guest of Gary Craig (the founder) to learn & experience firsthand this amazing technique. It was an enlightening, life changing event. In less than a week I was able to rid myself of over 25 years of horrible flashback nightmares. It has also been 3 years since I've had a panic or anxiety attack!
All my life I was taught to be a skeptic. My arrogance cost me years of pain, frustration even misery. It's sad, here in the US what we call 'Alternative Medicine' is actually lifestyle choices, techniques that have been practiced in the East for well over 5000 years. Here the treatment of choice is expensive PILLS & surgeries. In many Eastern countries others cultivate a lifestyle of healthy LIVING. Re-in forced by TCM better known as Traditional Chinese Medicine. Ayurveyic Lifestyle, Massage & Acupuncture are other practices used to maintain balance & most importantly reduce stress.
Stress is the Killer! We're discovering that about 90% of all Dr. visits are the results of stress overload. Many of us have come to the understanding that the mind & body are one. This awareness helps us realize that when you upset one area, it effects the others. Next time you get anxious, pay attention to where you notice or 'feel' it in your body. It might be tension in the shoulders, restricted breathing, queasiness in your stomach. You might even feel an increase in respiration & perspiration. During our hectic day to day lives we are faced with stressful sometimes even traumatic events. Imagine the cumulative results of continuous stress day after day hammering the body? It's no wonder we get sick!
Or worse, seek to reduce our discomfort & frustrations with the overindulgence of food, alcohol, tobacco & drugs. For some people there is a drive or compulsion to over spend, gamble or seek one meaningless relationship after the next. Anything that take our minds off the turmoil within. It's these UN-healthy choices that overwhelm our already stressed filled lives. Then there's the push to purchase. All the advanced technology, the gadgets. We buy~ buy ~buy convinced we'll be simplifying our lives. The only thing that gets lowered is our bank account. It doesn't have to be that way. In the next chapters, I'll explain how a simple, gentle 5 minute technique can change your life. The best part, it's FREE.
